All Time Low album considered a success

UnknownLong live the reckless and the brave, I don’t think I want to be saved,” are lyrics from the first track on All Time Low’s new album. Don’t Panic, released on Oct. 9, includes 12 pop-rock, pop-punk tracks that promise not to disappoint fans.

The album begins with “The Reckless and the Brave,” a single released in June. While “The Reckless and the Brave” has inspiring lyrics such as “My song has not been sung, so long live us,” it is not as impressive as the other songs. One of my favorite songs is “For Baltimore,” which makes references to the band’s formation in their hometown. The band was originally discovered in Baltimore in 2003. The lyrics about their hometown are touching, but it is the catchy melody that appeals to listeners.

Not all the tracks are as good quality as “For Baltimore” and “The Reckless and the Brave.” Several songs on the album weaken the value of the other tracks. “Backseat Serenade” has an appealing tune, but the lyrics are a bit cliché, like when they sing, “You’re salty like a summer day, kiss the sweat away.” The lyrics almost make it seem like a filler song. “Somewhere in Neverland” is another likable love song. While its lyrics are somewhat cheap, they at least add some minimal value to the album.

Some songs were co-written with other artists, such as “Outlines,” which features former Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump and guest vocalist from Acceptance, Jason Vena. This inspiring song mentions not letting moments pass by and its lyrics complement the album.

Altogether, Don’t Panic is a fairly decent album. While some tracks border on being both ridiculous and funny, others are compelling. I would recommend it because the selection of songs makes the album appealing to a variety of musical tastes.
