Taylor Swift release of Red some of her best

Taylor-Swift-Red-ReviewTaylor Swift’s attempt to “Begin Again” by releasing her new album, Red, has been a success. Her style has completely changed from that of her previous country albums Sparks Fly, Fearless and Taylor Swift.

When the catchy new song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” came out as a preview for Swift’s new album, I couldn’t help but sing along. Her new music is very relatable to many teenage girls because Swift is young, and because of her successful debuts, she has rightfully earned her nearly worshipped status as the poet of many teenagers. Swift remains true to herself in the new songs, even while experimenting with new sounds.

“Everything Has Changed” is another new song, and it’s true. Red is definitely not what Swift fans are used to. Though Swift may initially seem like a country singer playing around with pop music, her album has been a huge hit around the country and features duets with other singers, such as Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol. The exposure these other artists are getting is beneficial to them as well.

My favorite song on Swift’s new album is “I Almost Do” because it shows her conflicting emotions. She wants to reconnect with her ex-boyfriend but she can’t “risk another goodbye.” My least favorite song, “I Knew You Were Trouble” is an odd mix between pop and dubstep. The song would be better if you could actually understand the lyrics.

Swift receives criticism that many of her songs are her whining about her boyfriend breaking up with her. However, she is trying to reach out to girls who have similar experiences.

Although her music isn’t the same, Swift is a gifted songwriter and I am still impressed by her new album.
