Sophomore Luke Schlegel is one of the starting strikers for the West Henderson varsity soccer team this year. With five games into the season, Schlegel has already scored goals at an impressive rate. So far, Schlegel scored four Falcons goals so far.
Schlegel said, “It means a lot to have this kind of success as a team and a player. But my goal is to keep it simple, and not let any of the success get to our heads.” They won their first two games, with Schlegel averaging 1.5 goals per game, which is outstanding. Unfortunately, the team suffered a tough loss against Hendersonville in their third game. However, in another game vs. Brevard, there was another goal and another win for Schlegel and the West Henderson Falcons.
Currently, Schlegel is tied for the conference lead in total goals. It’s impressive to see this level of success from a sophomore. The Falcons Men Soccer team is a formidable force as a whole, even with one loss there will certainly be more wins. Schlegel says, “I think what is ahead for this team is hopefully winning, and just playing our very best, with some success through the whole season.”
