On Aug. 14, during the West Henderson Lady Falcons volleyball home opener against A.C. Reynolds, fans stood and cheered for senior Emma Bryson as she hit the major milestone of 1,000 kills, kicking off this volleyball season in true West Henderson dominant fashion. The Lady Falcons went on to win 3-0, led by Bryson and fellow team captains.
Bryson has received many impressive awards and honors in her career, as well as her Division I commitment to continue volleyball at the University of Georgia, making her an exciting player to watch and star on the court. Bryson, a three-time AAU All-American, recalls this 1,000 kills moment as, ”so surreal.” She adds, “I’ve been working for this for such a long time, it was just so amazing to be surrounded by these incredible people when I hit that milestone.”
Teammates, coaches, family, and friends poured in with congratulations and support for Bryson across social media moments after the final whistle was blown. Bryson felt, “very supported by everyone because they were extremely happy and excited when it all happened.” Her family attended with posters ready to congratulate Bryson on this killer accomplishment everyone had been anticipating and waiting for.
Although this triumph wasn’t without pressure for Bryson, who had been, “counting down numbers with every swing.” Bryson emphasized, “I put the pressure on myself. I had wanted to reach this milestone for so long, and so finally getting there had been a huge deal for me.” A huge deal for many, as this accomplishment hopefully kicks off more success for not only Bryson but the entire Lady Falcons volleyball team on their promising 2024 season.
“Emma’s been on varsity since freshman year, and she’s been working very hard in and out of season, this is a very well-deserved milestone for her,” says coach Tiffany Lowrance.
