Junior Kiki Still represented West Henderson and won the singles title in the Girl’s Tennis Tournament and Regional Qualifier that took place on Oct. 9 and 10. She competed against various players from Enka, Tuscola, North Henderson, and even the number one seed from Asheville High. Still has qualified for regionals before, but this was her first time placing at the top of a conference.
“I think I have a good chance in regionals,” Still said. “I have a lot more confidence this year, and playing singles should be exciting.”
Still’s performance at the qualifier ensures her a higher seed number at the regional conference. Other qualifiers from West were in the doubles category, including senior Emilee Mosso partnered with junior Lauren Jackson, and sophomore Audrey Hood with junior Laurel Welch.
“It feels really good to have my hard work pay off,” Still said. “I’m glad to represent my school and my team, and I’m sure they’re happy for me.”
