The West Henderson Falcons will host the T.C. Roberson Rams on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in a game that could extend the Falcons winning streak.
The Rams, ranked fourth in the conference, sit at 1-4 on the season, 1-1 in the conference. Comparatively, the Falcons are ranked second only to A.C. Reynolds, and have an undefeated record to this point in the season.
The T.C. Roberson varsity football team lost Friday’s home conference game against North Buncombe by a score of 20-14. Despite strong defensive performances from seniors Robbie Gilliland and Zaejohn Mills, who totaled a combined 38 tackles and 12 assists, the Rams couldn’t find a winning formula.
The Falcons were able to find that formula in their matchup against North Buncombe on Sept. 13. The Falcons prevailed over the Black Hawks 35-7, despite less possession time and total plays. The Falcons were led to victory by senior Auden Brennan who amassed 132 total yards. That performance was matched by fellow senior Khaliq Barnes with 117 rushing yards, and averaging 16.7 yards per carry.
Fans are anticipating a battle of offenses. The Falcons’ strong rushing game has been led by seniors Peyton Dimsdale and Khaliq Barnes, who are averaging 100.3 and 76.8 yards per game respectively. The Falcons have averaged a combined 325 yards per game on the season.
The Rams’ offense has relied on their passing game throughout the season. The team has averaged 174.2 passing yards per game on the season. The offense is led by junior quarterback Brody Whitson, who has 136 yards per game, and 3 passing touchdowns on the season. According to statistics, Whitson may struggle with his pass completion percentage, which sits at 55.7 percent on the season.
As the Falcons hope to advance their winning streak and improve their standing in the conference, the Rams look to move forward from their 1-4 start to the season. The student section theme is “Neon Out.”
