The men’s golf team won the Henderson County Championship for the third straight year and they just capped off their season with their first Conference Championship in six years. The Falcons beat runners-up T.C. Roberson by 16 strokes, and third place finishers North Buncombe by 67 strokes. The team went 37-0 throughout the season.
Senior Jayden King finished his high school career with a round of one under 71; a personal best. King is a four year letterman, and is a three year starter on the team.
“He’s really a great role model for us,” sophomore Will Parker said. “Being the only senior, he has a big role to fill.”
King has made big strides his senior year, with big improvement in his scoring average compared to previous years.
“I took golf and my practice a lot more seriously during this offseason,” King said. “I worked hard at my game the whole year, and I feel it’s showing. My teammates and coaches really pushed me to get better.”
The team is set to play in the Regional State Qualifier on Monday, May 6 at River Bend Golf Club in Shelby, NC.
