West Henderson High School’s faculty will be hosting a tailgate tomorrow, April 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. to encourage students to attend the three home sporting events.
The event was organized by history teacher Daniel Holbert. Entry is free for students and children, and according to Holbert, a variety of entertainment options will be available for families to enjoy.
“If you love America, food trucks, ice cream, sports and tailgate games, then this is the place for you,” Holbert said.
Teachers have been encouraging their classes to come to the tailgate, and many students said they are excited about it.
“It’s going to be a really good time,” junior AJ Shaffer said. “I’m really looking forward to going out and spending time with everybody. The food trucks and cornhole I’m sure will be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to support my school and my community.”
The softball, baseball and women’s soccer teams are all playing conference games as their seasons wrap up. Softball and soccer will play North Buncombe, while baseball will play A.C. Reynolds.
“People coming out to support us, it really shows Falcon pride,” Softball Head Coach Dana Braznell said. “It doesn’t just show what you see in the classroom, it shows the whole kid. I’m really excited.”
