The Color Run 5K will take place Saturday, March 30 at West Henderson High School, hosted by the track team.
At 8:30 a.m., the kids’ fun run will start, while the actual 5K will take place at 9:15. According to head coach Faith Stoker, the main goal is to create a family-friendly environment where all members of the family can participate.
“We did this so that we could have a fun style of 5K because there aren’t a lot of 5Ks that take place in the area,” Stoker said. “It’s a fun way to come out and run, plus you get to get doused in colored powder, so you’re leaving in a new tie dye shirt.”
The Falcon track team has played a key role in planning the 5K. The course was designed and tested out by the Falcon track team. Members of the team will be running the race as pacers for the rest of the runners.
“Some of the older boys have taken the time to mark out the course to figure out where the participants will be running and how long the route itself will be,” junior Riley Hill said. “Mrs. (Faith) Stoker and some of the team have agreed on making the course a medium level of difficulty so it’s doable for people of all ages.”

Correction: This is the first color run hosted by Stoker as track coach, not the first ever color run at the school.
