On Monday, Jan. 14, the annual dance concert was held in the West auditorium in honor of former senior Lexie Moffit.

Each student in the class choreographed a dance for their final grade. Headlining performances included “Lay Me Down,” choreographed by senior Travis Pressley; “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” choreographed by junior Makayla Cooper; “Someone In The Crowd” choreographed by junior Elise Trexler; and “Helium,” choreographed by senior Caroline Corn.

Moffitt choreographed a dance to “Bruises” by Lewis Capaldi. According to Cooper, it ended up being a collaboration of Moffitt and her peers, who stepped up in unity to finish what she began.

“It was an emotional night, but knowing we were doing it for her helped everyone get through it,” Cooper said.

Pressley said he originally felt unprepared for the performance.

“This ended up being the best concert I’ve ever been in,” Pressley said. “It was an obvious feeling that she was there dancing alongside us, giving us the confidence to guide us through.”

Moffitt’s legacy will be carried on for years to come at West with a new award in honor of her leadership and hard work put into the dance program, which her parents were welcomed up to the stage to receive.
