Winter Storm Diego led to the cancelation of five school days, including the scheduled senior project presentation day, which was rescheduled during the school day on Monday, Dec. 17.
“The snow had a major impact on the senior projects,” English teacher Matthew Parent said. “This is the first time in 17 years that we’ve had to (present during school), so it’s been a lot of planning and a lot of panic on the seniors’ part, but I think that our presentations will still be just as good as they normally are.”
Some students said the last-minute schedule change gave them anxiety.
“I was nervous because I just wanted to get it over with,” senior Josh Candler said.
Other students said they thought the delay made their projects stronger.
“Our teachers told us to practice every single day that we were out of school, but I didn’t,” senior Travis Pressley said. “I didn’t practice it all over break, and I think it worked in my favor because I think I would have done it too many times and become robotic or psyched myself out. The break worked in my favor, because my project didn’t become repetitive.”
