West Henderson’s football team nearly beat the top team in the conference Friday Oct. 26. AC Reynolds have won thirty conference games in a row. The first three Rocket drives ended in an interception, a fumble and a turnover on downs. West was first to score. At the beginning of the second quarter, senior Jordan Geyer scored on a one yard quarterback sneak and the Falcons converted on the two point conversion.
The Rockets then picked up the pace and scored at the end of the half. Two Rocket touchdowns in the second half iced the game, and they came out on top 21-14.
Senior Zach Allison finished with six tackles, two assists, and one interception.
“I feel like we played well,” Allison said. “We really came together as a whole and played as team, and not as individuals.”
The Falcons’ last game of the season is Friday, Nov. 2 at Asheville. West is 4-6, 2-5 on the season, and Asheville is 6-4, 5-2.

West Henderson’s volleyball team beat Charlotte Catholic in the third round of the state playoffs. They won in the fourth set on Saturday, Oct. 27. West won the first two sets (21-25, 14-25), lost the tight third set (27-25) and pulled it through in the fourth set to win the match (22-25).
Darby Fisher, senior varsity player, had 27 assists to pull the Falcons to the win. She is committed to play volleyball at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Fisher said she felt the team was working hard with the higher stakes of playoffs, and that was one of the factors contributing to the win.
“I think we played really well as a team the past few games and have had really good energy,” Fisher said.
West (second-seed) lost to Jesse Carson (first-seed) on Thursday, Nov. 1.
