The recent addition of the Netflix original film, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” has sparked an online craze and created a following for the romantic tale at rapid speed. The book series by Jenny Han consists of three books, and the Netflix movie was released on August 7 is a depiction of the first.
“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a story of a high school girl, Lara Jean Covey, who writes addressed love letters to her most intense crushes– five in total. However, the shy Covey never sends the letters and keeps them a secret from everyone, until her younger sister Kitty gets her hands on them. When the letters are mysteriously sent out, Lara Jean’s life becomes increasingly more complicated but wonderful.
When approached by her seventh grade crush, Peter Kavinsky, a certain ease and comfort appears between the two. After Lara Jean explained the letters were never meant to be read, the pair decides to create a fake relationship in order to get Peter’s ex-girlfriend back and keep Lara Jean’s letters at bay. But what they don’t expect is to fall for each other, all from a love letter signed by Lara Jean Covey.

The movie “To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a summer must-watch and a new favorite. The story line of a shy high school girl makes the movie extremely relatable in many aspects. With the movie being narrated by Lara Jean you get a perspective of high school and love that is more like your own than you know. This is a movie that is sure to be watched over and over for a romantic comedy fix.
