Senior baseball player Will Lindsey verbally committed to play his collegiate level baseball at Anderson University in South Carolina on Sept. 26. He will officially sign to be an Anderson Trojan utility player on Nov. 14, a national signing date.

“It’s definitely a weight off my shoulders,” Lindsey said, “It’s been a long process, and I’m thankful I’ve found a good fit for me.”

On Sept. 24 Lindsey visited Anderson for a baseball workout in front of the coaching staff along with 49 other high school baseball players. Two days later, Lindsey received a call from the assistant coach, Cody Penny, who made a scholarship offer.

“He is one of the most deserving kids that has come through the program as far as his work ethic and being genuine and authentic as a person,” Head Coach Brandon Ball said, “It’s well deserved on his part, and I know he’s going to go and represent West’s baseball program, our high school and our community to the best of his ability.”

Lindsey was a starting shortstop for the Falcons with a batting average of .528, which is third all time in West history. He also averaged a .905 fielding percentage. Lindsey, who is also a relief pitcher, is fourth all time in saves. Last spring Lindsey accumulated 10 runs batted in and six stolen bases.

“I had a very successful junior year, thanks to West coaching staff and preparation for the season. I’m excited for my senior season and trying to achieve a conference championship with my teammates, but I’m proud that I will be a future Trojan at Anderson University.” Lindsey said.

Lindsey’s father, Anthony Lindsey, a 1992 graduate who played on the school’s state championship team, holds most of the pitching records for the Falcons. Lindsey said he would like to break his father’s save record.

“It would be cook to break my dad’s records,” Lindsey said, “It would be neat to keep it in the family.”
