The 5th annual Hayley Hustle will be Saturday, May 16, beginning in Johnson Stadium. The event is a fundraiser sponsored by the Student Government Association to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The 5K run was started by 2014 graduate Chandler Danielson in honor of her classmate, Hayley Morris, who at the age of 13 was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a form of muscular dystrophy.
The event will begin with the third annual pig pickin’ and silent auction at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria on Friday evening. Admission for the pig pickin’ and silent auction is $10.
The race will take place the following day beginning with registration at 8 a.m. The race will start at 9 a.m. Registration on the day of the race will be $35 for adults and $30 for children 10-years-old and younger.
As it was last year, this year’s race will be a color run. Runners will be showered with hypoallergenic color in the style of the Indian festival of Holi. Runners are strongly encouraged to wear white in order for the colors to show up better.
Last year’s Hayley Hustle raised more than $12,000.
