With sweat dripping from her palms, senior Madison Vaughn tightened her grip on the racket and prepared herself for the next serve. The women’s tennis team experienced a tough but conquerable match at home against North Buncombe on Aug. 29, winning 5-4.
“We have only lost once, so tennis season is going exceptionally well,” said Vaughn. “The team is working diligently to have a better record than last year. We have some difficult matches coming up, but we have performed well against these schools before.”
Despite a recent loss against Brevard on Sept. 4, the team has high hopes for the upcoming Hendersonville Country Club Doubles Championship on Sept. 14.
“Simply because we lost to Brevard doesn’t mean we won’t find success at the championship. My doubles partner and I have high expectations,” said Vaughn. “We hope to improve from last year.”
The team’s current record is 6-2.
