Donald Trump – President or poser?

Donald J. Trump. Son. Father. Grandfather. Personality. Chairman. Author. Actor. Entrepreneur. Owner. Economist. Builder. President?

Trump is running for president of the United States as a Republican. But this is not the first time Trump has tried to run. In 1999 he formed an exploratory committee to consider a run in the Reform Party, but decided later to abandon the campaign. Besides running for president Trump is also a successful businessman. With a net worth of $4.5 billion, one could argue that he has accomplished a lot.

From building his own university, to having his own television show, the Apprentice, to building casinos, golf courses, hotels and other properties — all of which have his name, Trump has created quite an empire.

This election, he is a front runner and known for his opposition to immigration, free trade and military interventionism.

Trump and supporters have raised $27.4 million dollars for his campaign to date. As of March he has won 20 contests. He also has said that he is investing millions of his own money.

The older generations have found a love and shown support for Trump, whereas the younger generations have shown more of a dislike for him. Why is that?

He has been described as pompous, bigot, racist, sexist, narcissist, liar, arrogant, cruel, bombastic, egomanaic, rich…. Young people have come up with quite a list. Do we want the president of our country to be any of these things?

Trump’s company has been sued, twice, by the U.S. Department of Justice for not renting apartments to African-Americans. He failed to disavow the Ku Klux Klan’s endorsement, and wants “to build a big beautiful wall.” Drumpf has publicly questioned our current President, Barack Obama’s citizenship, as well as former Presidential candidate Marco Rubio.

He was not in total favor of the Supreme Court ruling legalizing same sex marriage and supports cutting federal funding of Planned Parenthood. Drumpf has gone bankrupt four times, and his true intentions have been questioned because of his party changes.
Trump even has called his own voters uneducated, to their faces. And what did they do? They cheered.

“We won the evangelicals. We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated,” Trump said.

Recently the Republican Party held a closed door meeting, discussing that if Trump is to be the party’s nominee, they are going to pull for a third party candidate. More than $63 million dollars nationwide has been spent on anti-Trump ads.

The conservatives pull for Trump because of his support of the Second Amendment, immigration policies, economic success, intentions of replacing Obamacare with a “something terrific” and how straightforward his attitude is.

Trump has also repeatedly argued the importance of border security and has said that birthright citizenship is not and should not be protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. He also supports increasing fracking and eliminating wind power to find better alternative sources.

He plans to reduce corporate tax rate to 15 percent and to eliminate Common Core in school systems. Trump only supports the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes and approves capital punishment.

Businessman, honest, strong, leader, confident, trustworthy, truthful, intelligent, successful, passionate. Who wouldn’t want these characteristics in our president?

“I like thinking big, if you’re going to be thinking anything, then you might as well be thinking big,” Trump said.

Trump has 678 delegates to date, needing only 559 to secure the Republican party. He’s blown up the media, and split the opinions of two separate generations. So, will America really be great again? Will we really elect Donald Trump president?
