Disney’s Epcot was a little surreal on Saturday.
The majority of the park is dedicated to 11 different countries from Canada to Morocco. It’s actually a pretty interesting show of culture and food that you can get without traveling. Without a doubt the most interesting part was walking through France. In wake of recent events, I really didn’t know what expect in the short walk through a piece of Paris . It was dark when we made our way to France, and as I got my first view of the “Eiffel tower,” I knew it was about to be a roller coaster of emotion. The smaller version of the famous tower was lit up in blue, white and red for the first time in a long time. As I looked out over all the countries, I noticed that the only country the had burning torches, was France. There was still the hustle and bustle of thousands of people trying to enjoy the international Food and Wine Festival, but I felt the heaviness of the air. I wondered what it must have been like to be French. I wasn’t old enough to understand Sept. 11, but I’ve heard stories of what it was like to be an American in the months after. The sense of nationality, and drive, to take back what was rightfully ours. I hope and pray that the people of France take back what is theirs. Take back your sense of security.
It’s time for us as a nation to quit ignoring that ISIS is the number one issue in the world right now. President Obama has refused to take the next step in the war against Terrorism. Sitting in front of computers and calling in airstrikes on possible positions, is not addressing the problem. It feels as if we are waiting for the Islamic terrorists to strike first. We have become a nation that is scared of conflict. It’s time we remembered who the greatest world super power is. We aren’t a country to sit around and wait to get punched. When someone threatens our way of life, we show our power and dominance, and fight the problem at its core. It’s time for us to quit letting in possible terrorist threats, and fight these savages with everything we have.
I decided to start this blog as an expression of my opinion on issues we see in the world today. My friend Ari has a blog up as well.
